Differential Diagnosis

• Becker nevus • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation • Nevus spilus • Mastocytoma • Congenital melanocytic nevus

Key Learnings

• Uniformly light to dark brown, well-demarcated macules/patches • ≥6 CALMs >5mm (prepubertal) or >15mm (postpubertal) = NF1 criteria • "Coast of California" (smooth border = NF1) vs. "Coast of Maine" (irregular = McCune-Albright) • Isolated 1-3 CALMs are common and benign (~10-20% of population)
